First Paed Visit

Rei went for her first paed checkup yesterday at SVMC. We were the first patient. Dr. Ian checked her jaundice level. They pricked her base of the foot to get a drop of blood. Rei was held by Yang and she cried. After that, they passed Rei to me to breastfeed in order to soothe her. The doctor then also realised that she had hardened nose mucus and they held her down to take it out. She cried again. Anyway, result came out and doctor congratulated us as Rei's reading was only 96. Only 20% newborns have low jaundice level. So we don't have to worry about jaundice level anymore.

Back home, Yang's mum and dad came to visit little Rei. They were very excited. They said Rei looks smaller as expected! Because through pictures, she looks bigger. Papa didn't carry her because he was afraid was Rei looked so fragile. Haha.

Realised Rei got bitten by red ants. There was a tiny little bump on her forehead. D: there has been red ants crawling around in my room. 

Rei's cord clamp fell off yesterday! Finally! We are keeping this. Thought only to keep the clip, but mum said why not keep the cord too? More meaningful D:

I also had my first bath that night. Washing all the hospital dirt away finally!

That night, Rei demanded feeding quite a lot. Almost every hour. She likes to dream feed. My milk has kicked in quite a lot so sometimes when I feed using one breast, another breast would be leaking without me realising until my shirt is all wet. Sometimes when Rei cries, my boobs will leak also. It's a marvel how my body can respond like that without me doing anything. Oh there was another time, when Yang said he misses me and baby, then when I look at Rei and feeling emotions, I could feel my boobs filling up and leak also. Oxytocin working I think! Didn't know my boobs can be this responsive.

Today Rei did her first explosive sniper poop on me. I was changing her out of her wet diaper. Then when I was almost done and removed the dirty diaper, she suddenly shot her poop straight on my pants and the floor mat. I was alone and I was like omg omg omg. I was already anxious changing the wet diaper because I rarely do it especially alone. Now this! High level stuffs! Haha. Tried to clean as much as I can without soiling more things. In the end, had to call mum for help.

I'm still slowly learning how to get a deep latch from Rei. She is learning too. It would be so much easier if she doesn't always put her hands in front of her body everytime I try to latch her. Anyway, I'm kinda excited to practice and experiment ways to make her latch deep.

My vagina area probably got infected. It has been about 3 days? Since my wound got the 'hanyir' fishy smell. Sigh... Tried to cure it on my own but tomorrow it's time for me to call and ask doc. Hope it's still not too bad. If there isn't an injection, I would be feeling pretty great now. Yesterday too, I took enema. Just got to poop already. Mum helped me to cucuk. So when she cucuk, she told me the area where I feel got smell is red. Well, yes, red means infected.

Today I feel a bit down i think. I feel kinda trapped in the house with baby and my body's condition. I feel cut off from the world. I've been in my room almost 24/7. Like what Yang say, that's why it's called confinement! I guess it's true....
My tummy is still quite huge though I think it has shrunk a bit since last week.
